Wide River Winery joined other local merchants in LeClaire in 2011. LeClaire is historic and cute. Walking up and down the main street brings a unique experience for shopping and strolling. Instead of nationwide chain stores, you can browse antiques, crafts and locally made merchandise in independent stores. We are located a few blocks from a popular spot is Antique Archeology, home of the American Pickers.

Locally or Family-Owned Business Notes
Dorothy O’Brien began growing grapes and making wine for her family in 1997 and opened the Le Claire tasting room in 2011.
Family members made this winery go and grow. Dorothy’s daughter, Ann Pelton, and sisters, Martha O’Brien and Ceil O’Brien, focus on marketing and the business side of the winery.
Inspiration for many of the wine names come from the family’s law heritage. Dorothy is an employment law attorney and her husband, Charlie Pelton, is a retired Clinton County judge. Lots of other lawyer family members have been known to sample wine as part of the never ending quest for top quality wine.
Wide River Winery is our way of adding value to the area and sharing wine made from the goodness of the earth. We hope to see you soon!
