Whispers in the Cedars

Whispers in the Cedars is an annual tour of Port Gibson's historic Wintergreen Cemetery.  Local residents portray historical figures, many of whom were their ancestors.  New characters are portrayed each year, but past characters have included soldiers and statesmen, preachers and farmers, along with a murderer and one of the first female riverboat captains.

Tours begin in Port Gibson's City Hall, constructed as a school building in 1838, and featuring the Allen Collection of photographs of the area from the turn of the 20th Century.  Tours are offered on the hour and half-hour beginning at 6pm and concluding at 8:30pm.
