The West Baton Rouge Museum, in Port Allen, just minutes from downtown Baton Rouge, is a history museum about south Louisiana's sugar plantation heritage. The museum is on the Louisiana African-American Heritage Trail and is located in the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area. The museum's six acres display six historic buildings that help describe plantation life from the antebellum period through the Civil Rights period. The main museum and barn feature changing and permanent exhibits and a gift shop.
