Total Solar Eclipse: "View It Live Just Off I-55"

On Monday, August 21, 2017, Herculaneum, Missouri, will experience the first total solar eclipse in the region since 1442. Beginning at approximately 11:49 am, the moon will begin the total eclipse of the sun and at approximately 1:18 pm, the moon will completely block the sun. Totality will last for 2 minutes and 32 seconds (the longest totality anywhere will be 2 minutes and 40 seconds). After totality, the moon's eclipse of the sun will be complete at approximately 2:44 pm. The City of Herculaneum has four designated viewing areas with paved parking. Various events are being planned for the days preceding the eclipse. Herculaneum, Missouri, is located approximately 30 miles south of St. Louis, Missouri along Interstate 55. Herculaneum can also be reached by traveling US Highway 61-67 from St. Louis.
