The Cajun Village

A wonderful collection of authentic, restored Acadian dwellings in the heart of Plantation Country in South Louisiana. We invite you to stroll the grounds, step back in time, and visit the unique shoppes and boutiques that make their home in these sturdy old buildings. You may want to enjoy some beignets 'n cafe' au lait while meandering through the stores, or just sip on a glass of sweet muscadine wine as you shop for art or souvenirs. Visit the alligator pond (yes, we have live alligators), or relax on one of our many porch swings.

Locally or Family-Owned Business Notes

Al and Theresa Robert have collected and preserved buildings from the River Road and nearby communities for more than 40 years. Al uses his passion to create successful businesses with local flavor in the restored historical buildings while Theresa adds the finishing touches.

In addition to the Cajun Village, their projects include The Cabin Restaurant and Bernadette's Restaurant in Burnside, and the Cajun Village Cottages and the buildings that house River Parishes Community College, both in Sorrento, Louisiana.

Each business venture is a series of original Acadian buildings discovered, purchased, moved and renovated. Many of these historical treasures were saved from demolition. All provide tourists, locals and students a taste of what life was like more than 100 years ago in Ascension Parish.
