Bed and Breakfast Style

The property was built in 1859 and is one of only two local landmarks in Hannibal. It is in the Central Park National Historic District and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. But the Inn is not stuffy - it is a very comfortable place to visit and stay.

Large covered porches adorn the outside of the house - one with a huge balcony for guests to relax with coffee or wine or whatever their preference...a book or a long conversation. The front porch is a must for sitting and watching the world go by while our Billiards Parlor & Room offer a cozy retreat and games of pool or Scrabble.

Eco-Friendly Notes

Virtually every square inch of the house has been restored including all 60 plus original 1859 windows, while only one room was actually gutted. This saved hundreds of tons of debris from the landfills. We installed geo-thermal heating and air conditioning, reducing our carbon footprint even further. All the kitchen cabinets were built with recycled lumber from floor joists taken out a demolished structure. Embodied energy in the building of the original house over 150 years ago makes this one of the "Greenest" structures in Hannibal.

We continue that tradition, through recycling of everyday items in paper, plastic and card board. We use no canned items in the preparation of guest breakfasts or snacks.

Locally or Family-Owned Business Notes

The Belvedere Inn is owned by husband and wife team Bob & Pat Yapp, residents of Hannibal since 2008. Pat does the cooking and coordinates guest services while Bob does the restoration and maintenance of the property.

Accessibility Notes

The home was built in 1859 and there are 20 steps between each of the three floors which house guest rooms. The house is not handicapped accessible.

Pet Friendly Notes

We have two large dogs - a Golden Retreiver named George and a Newfoundland named Gracie. As a result, we do not allow other dogs in the property since there would be non-stop barking and play.

Seasons Open

We are open all year long.
