Tucked away in a quiet, gentle area south of Savanna,Illinois is Spring Lake.It is destination to enjoy nature and wildlife, especially birding.  This little burg is located off the  Great River Road.
The observation deck and walking trail are excellent access points for wildlife and photo opportunities.

Recreational Opportunities

A leisurely walk can be enjoyed on the trail.  Bird watching is a popular activity year-round.  Bald eagles can be seen soaring overhead, great egrets search the wetland for a frog or fish to snatch and many species of turtles bask on logs.

The Great River Trail is a hiking and biking trail, an entry point is available from the Spring Lake parking lot. 

Seasons Accessible

The Spring Lake observation deck is open year-round.  
The .4 mile one-way walking trail is closed:  October 1 through the end of the duck hunting season.

This allows the migrating ducks an opportunity to rest and refuel without disturbance.  

Accessibility Notes

The Spring Lake observation deck is accessible with a ramp.  The trail to the deck is a mowed grass and a gravel .

Pet Friendly Notes

Pets must be on a 6" leash.
