Satchmo SummerFest

Satchmo SummerFest is a celebration of the life, legacy and music of one of New Orleans' most famous sons, Louis Armstrong. SSF began in 2001 to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the trumpeter known around the world as “Satchmo.” The festival takes place at Louisiana State Museum’s Old U.S. Mint in the historic French Quarter and features multiple stages of live music, Louisiana cuisine, a symposium featuring world renowned Armstrong scholars, a kickoff party, and special events throughout festival weekend.

Each year experts from around the world gather to present fascinating lectures and discussions, movies and music – all about native son Louis Armstrong at the annual Satchmo Symposium. The Symposium is free and open to the public as part of SSF.
