Recreational Opportunities

The visitor center is open 7:30-4:00 pm Monday Thru Friday and closed on Federal Holidays.  The refuge allows hunting, fishing, wildlife observation and photography, hiking, paddling, boating and more.  Hunting is only allowed on certain areas - be sure to check before.  There is also an accessible observation deck behind the visitors center.

Seasons Accessible

The Louisa and Keithsburg Divisions are closed Sept. 15-Jan 1 annually.  Hunting is not allowed on these areas.

Horseshoe Bend Division is closed Sept. 15 until  Dec. 1st.  Upland game and big game hunting is allowed after December 1st.

Big Timber Division is open year-round and open to hunting seasons according to state regulations.



Accessibility Notes

The visitor's center is handicapped accessible with a short accessible trail to the overlook deck.

Pet Friendly Notes

Pets must be on a leash.
