Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression in Pere Marquette State Park, the historic Pere Marquette Lodge and Conference Center is the place to go if you are looking for a popular St. Louis tourist attraction and vacation destination. It is an awe-inspiring structure of limestone and massive timbers made complete with a 50 foot vaulted ceiling and a massive 700-ton stone fireplace in the extraordinary Great Room. Lodging Style and Amenities
Pere Marquette Lodge offers three different room types. The Historic Wing rooms offer gorgeous views of the Illinois River and have been in use since 1940. The New Wing rooms were added in 1988 and are conveniently located next to the pool and accessible by elevator. The cabin rooms offer a more private stay with a rustic ambiance. All 72 guest rooms have been newly renovated and contain modern amenities.
There are so many things to do at and around Pere Marquette Lodge. Boat tours and rentals are offered in the warmer months, and eagle viewing programs are offered during the winter. Hiking the gorgeous trails and driving the scenic River Road are both perfect activities in any season. The Lodge offers bike rentals and hosts many different events throughout the year. Although the Lodge is surrounded by nature, both Raging Rivers Water Park and St. Louis are nearby. Pere Marquette Lodge also offers horseback riding and is close to many historical sites.
