The City of Opelousas Tourist Information and Welcome Center is located on the grounds of Le Vieux Village at the eastern entrance to Opelousas along U.S. Highway 190, just ½ mile west of Interstate 49. Travel Counselors are on hand to provide you with the information necessary to enjoy your visit to Louisiana’s third oldest city. The center also has information for all 64 parishes in Louisiana. The center, housed in an 1890s Victorian cottage, also houses the Jim Bowie Display. Jim Bowie, an American hero of the Alamo, once lived in Opelousas. The Jim Bowie Display has many artifacts and memorabilia from that era.
