Located in the 5,000-square-foot former Singleton Lumber building is the NUNU Arts and Culture Collective. Locals gather here for weekly events among the works of both accomplished and emerging artists. Expect to be graciously welcomed by fluent French speakers, hear performances by celebrated Cajun and Creole musicians and enjoy area specific dishes. It is the site of a nascent French language and culture immersion center, recently partnered with Tulane, Louisiana State and Louisiana State at Lafayette universities.
Sample Itinerary of Experience
You will find monthly morning French table gatherings (last Saturday of each month), evening Pot Luck socials where cost of admission is a favorite dish for contribution to communal table (third Friday of each month), a weekly afternoon quilting circle - en français (Thursdays), and afternoon Squares and Contra dance (second Sunday of each month, Sept - June).
Within walking distance from NUNU's is the town center of Arnaudville, situated at the junction of bayous Teche and Fuselier. Here French is spoken freely in restaurants, shops, the grocery store and at the post office--a true bi-lingual community where a culture-based experience awaits.
