From North CountryTrail, the hiker will be able to take spur trails to Douglas Lodge, DeSoto Lake and Lake Itasca, headwaters of the Mississippi River. Campgrounds and services can be found in the Park.
Striking views of DeSoto Lake provide a backdrop to accessing Lake Itasca State Park where the hiker can take advantage of many spur trails throughout.
The trail is lightly used. Most of the activity occurs north of Douglas Lodge.
Within the park, North Country Trail is 10 miles in length, but continuing west or east you can enjoy the entire North Country Trail, a whopping 4,600 miles long.
Two trailheads allow for easy access to the trail. Portions of the trail are on wide ski trails, and other sections are narrow single-track. Contact the park for more specific information
