Norskedalen Nature & Heritage Center

Whether you come to experience the natural beauty of the coulee region, the history of those who have lived here throughout time or the Norwegian heritage preserved in the buildings and artifacts; whether you take a class or attend a program, enjoy one of our special events, take the guided tour, spend the night in our Paulsen rental cabin or just come to wander the grounds on your own; Norskedalen has something unique and very special to offer.

The Bekkum Homestead seeks to re-create a typical local farm at the turn of the century. The first buildings were moved to the site beginning the summer of 1982 from neighboring farms. Nearly all of the artifacts, including the houses and outbuildings, were donated by local families with major financial support provided by Owen and Dorothy Bekkum. The homestead is comprised of a house, summer kitchen, springhouse, corn crib, granary, outhouse, chicken coop, machine shed, stable, barn, blacksmith’s shop, and storage shed.
