Navarro Canoe Co., located in Rock island, IL is carrying on the timeless tradition of handcrafting canoes, with wooden interiors, that offer the finest in beauty and performance. Each made to order canoe is unique and takes a team of builders several weeks to make. While the hull of each canoe is a typical composite material, what sets a Navarro canoe apart is upper wooden structures that add distinctiveness. Inlaid ribs are always cherry used in a combination with other woods to trim out the canoe. Other wooden canoe accessories are also handmade in the shop. As much as possible, woods are locally and sustainably sourced.
The company is located very close to the Mississippi River which offers great paddling opportunities as well as chances to connect with those who are paddling the big river. The shop has both a show room and a working area. A call ahead can allow for a test paddle or a peek into the process of making a canoe.
