The Muscatine Area Farmers Market is focused on promoting local, sustainable agriculture and creating a fun, one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Our vendors are friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. We encourage our customers to get to know our growers because we feel that we have a farmer for everyone, whether the customer is interested in conventional agricultural practices, organics, heirlooms or non-GMO.
We're a medium-sized market with a small town feel. While strolling through the market on a Saturday morning, our customers can expect to be greeted by name from our vendors. Live music can be heard, there are educational demonstrations and health screenings offered. Our annual Big Burger Battle features the culinary creations of Muscatine residents judged by local celebrities.
Times and Locations:
Saturday: 7:30-11:30 a.m. on the corner of 3rd and Cedar Streets
Tuesday: 2:30-5:30 p.m. at the Muscatine Mall parking lot.
Produce and Crafts Highlights
Muscatine is famous for melons, but we also grow some of the nation's greatest sweet corn. When the market is in full swing, vendor tables are laden with sun-ripened tomatoes, juicy cucumbers, sweet berries and weird and wonderful varieties of heirloom produce that most people have never heard of, but their grandparents probably grew up eating! Shopping at our market is engaging and enlightening.
We also feature world-class bakers. We offer pies, cinnamon rolls and homemade breads that no supermarket could compete with. There are jams made from herb and fruit combinations that delight the palate and icy Italian sodas to cool off on even the hottest Iowa day.
Our craftsmen and artisans specialize in everything from gourmet dog treats to cement sculptures and planters. We have seamstresses, woodworkers and soap makers all crafting beautiful items that make perfect gifts for any occasion.
