Montissippi Regional Park contains views of Mississippi River and 170 acres hardwood and pine plantings. The park has 2 miles of paved trail for visitors to enjoy that contains scenic overlooks of "The Great River."
While at Montissippi Regional Park you will find plenty of native hardwood and pine trees to Minnesota. There is always a chance to come across a white tail deer or beaver within the park as well all that the Mississippi brings.
During the summer months Montissippi sees it's share of visitors. With people looking to utilize the boat dock and river access for canoes, kayaks, and fishing it draws a good crowd. In addition to river access and fishing, Wright County Parks allows for overnight camping at Montissippi. There is a port-a-toilet on site through the summer but the only camping that is allowed is tent camping. You will need to obtain a permit by contacting Wright County Parks.
During the Summer months Montissippi provides ample outdoor opportunities. These include fishing, river access through a Department of Natural Resources boat launch, 2 miles of paved trail, and overnight tent camping (by permit only). As fall approaches the hardwoods within the park begin to change color and provides a beautiful hike. During the winter Wright County Parks maintains a sledding hill (depending on snow).
Some o the most popular activities at Montissippi are hiking, biking, fishing, canoeing/ kayaking, and camping during the summer. During the winter the sledding hill is a popular destination.
Montissippi provides the opportunity for both quiet and active relaxation. Due to the size of the park you can enjoy a nice hike with views of the river or you can find you a spot along the trail and have a seat on a provided bench that overlooks the Mississippi River. There is plenty of room for the birds to sing and the children to play and those who enjoy each of them to enjoy the park.
Montissippi Regional Park is accessible year round. However, if you come in the winter you might to make sure you have the proper attire.
Montissippi is accessible by road through the City of Monticello or you by river from the Mississippi. The Department of Natural Resources maintains a public boat ramp within the park.
