Mississippi School of the Arts

Mississippi School of the Arts (MSA), is the only residential high school for the arts in the state of Mississippi. It is located in Brookhaven, MS on the historic Whitworth College campus. The campus is on the National Registry of Historic Places and has a designation as a Mississippi Landmark.

Today, MSA annually enrolls an average of 145 students in eleventh and twelfth grades. Students receive high school academic classes required for graduation and arts classes in selected disciplines of study, including: Dance, Literary Arts, Theatre, Visual Art, and Vocal Music. MSA regularly presents performances in dance, theatre, and vocal music as well as showcases of creative writing readings and visual art exhibits that are free and open to the public. In addition, groups regularly tour the school to see the activity of day-to-day instruction. More than 50 events per year take place that are open to the public.

How to Participate

The public should consult the calendar of events on the MSA website at msa.k12.ms.us to see upcoming events. Evening events open to the public are open to anyone and do not require reservations. To tour the campus, contact the administrative offices at (601) 823-1300. Individuals on tour will need to visit security prior to any tours. Groups are welcome with advance notice for tours.


Date and Times

Tour hours are Monday-Friday 10am-4pm by appointment.

Performances and Exhibits are at 7pm, dates are posted at www.msa.k12.ms.us - no reservations required.

Tours - all ages; Performances/Exhibits - age 10 and up recommended

All facilities have ramps and wheelchair accessible doors. Designated parking areas for wheelchair vehicles.
