Magnolia Mound Plantation

Once the site of a 900-acre farming operation, BREC's Magnolia Mound Plantation still stands strong today, tucked away between the Mississippi River and downtown Baton Rouge. The original house was built in 1791 and then enlarged and renovated in the early 1800s. Although the original house does not stand today, BREC and the friends of Magnolia Mound have worked rigorously to preserve the majestic and historic property. Magnolia Mound Plantation offers tours of the grounds, as well as the Historic House Museum and Open-Hearth Kitchen. Tours are conducted on the hour starting from 10am until 3pm. Admission is only free to Louisiana Residents on Thursdays from 1pm-4pm.
