French Market Annual Creole Tomato Festival

The French Market's Annual Creole Tomato Festival is held each year in June in honor of the state's beloved Creole tomato, grown in the nearby parishes (St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes, primarily).

The festival includes food vendors, cooking demonstrations, live local music, children's activities, plus indoor/outdoor cultural presentations discussing everything from the meaning of the term "Creole" to the history of the fascination with the Creole tomato. There's even a Creole tomato eating contest!
