Day the War Stopped

This event commemorates the brief moment of brotherhood given for the burial of a Union officer, Lt. Commander John E. Hart, by his brother Masons hat stopped a bloody war if only for a few mournful moments.

The event features historical talks, vintage music, vintage dancers, and a reenactment. The historical talk covers the many different occupations, expeditions, and skirmishes that took place across the parish and especially Bayou Sara during the Civil War by Mr. John House, from the Audubon State Historic Site.
