For over 20 years MetroLINK, the Illinois Quad Cities transit provider, has been fortunate to provide a passenger ferryboat option to Quad Cities residents and visitors, offering a Mississippi River experience that links passengers between the Illinois and Iowa riverfronts.The Channel Cat Water Taxi offers riders a chance to view the Mississippi River up close and personal at an affordable price. All day tickets are $8 for adults, and $4 for children (under 2 ride free). Passengers can enjoy a one hour round trip from any departure point, or may get on and off at each unique dock and visit various local points of interest. Ridership on the Channel Cat Water Taxi was 43,000 passengers during the 2015 season.
The Channel Cat offers space for up to 7 bicycles, and is one of the very few direct links across the Mississippi for bicyclists between the Iowa and Illinois riverfronts. All Channel Cat boats are ADA accessible.
About the Vessel
The Channel Cat Water Taxis are 49 passenger ,covered aluminum flat bottom boats, powered by dual 500 horsepower John Deere engines. Each boat has space for up to 7 bicycles and are ADA compliant.
