The Carmel Inn & Suites has been locally owned and operated by the Gaubert family for over 40 years. The hotel began as the dream of Lloyd F. Gaubert and has grown into a pillar of the Thibodaux community today.
The Carmel Inn site traces its history back to before the Civil War, where the Mount Carmel Girls Academy was built in 1855. In addition, original architectural elements of the academy were saved and incorporated into this family-owned hotel, including the spiral staircase in the lobby and the cupola shown above the entrance.
Situated along historic LA 1 and and the bank of Bayou Lafourche, the hotel resides in the heart of South Louisiana's plantation and cajun country. With authentic cajun cuisine just minutes way and 12 plantation homes within an hour's drive, the Carmel Inn & Suites is the place to stay for visitor's seeking an authentic South Louisiana experience.
