Bridge Park West

The heart of Monticello’s community activity, Bridge Park offers all the amenities of a favorite local park, with events and activities throughout the year to draw visitors from far beyond.

In the summer, the Tom Sawyer in all of us can experience the great Mississippi River at West Bridge Park – whether it is just gazing across the river banks from the shade of the massive cottonwood trees or snagging the catch of the day from the pier jutting out over the water.

Explorers can climb aboard the steamship-themed playground, or shelter in the gazebo for a quiet picnic along the river.

And - the bridge spanning the Mississippi River and Bridge Park is a great place to view the mighty Misssissippi.  The sight of the river winding down the banks is especially dramatic in the fall.  The banks are ablaze with color and a mist rises off the river into the crisp autumn air.  Don’t be surprised to see a bald eagle from the park – they are a frequent sight along this stretch of river.

Winter will find skaters enjoying the ice rink and warming house at West Bridge Park.  Skating is made even more magical at night by the thousands of colorful holiday lights adorning the park’s trees and shelters.

Park visitors will find the park is often home to a community celebration.  In June, West Bridge park is the stopping point for the Walk ‘n’ Roll festival, a celebration of Monticello’s parks and pathways.   In August, the park is home to “Brewfest”, a gathering of the region’s best brewers.  From IPA to stout, beer connoisseurs will satisfy their thirst at this West Bridge event.
