In 2014, the idea of providing all inclusive playground equipment for all children in Keokuk, Iowa was brought to the Odd Fellows Lodge 13. Since then a committee was formed, meetings have been held, and the idea has turned into reality.
The goal of providing the Keokuk community with playground equipment that all children can use is now a reality. The only handicapped accessible playground in the tri state area Bentley's Playground offers special needs seating on swing sets and a protective rubber play surface. Phase two of Bentley's Playground will be a 6,000 sqft area with zip lines, play stations, and much more, all adaptive to special needs children.
The committee has chosen the name of the playground to be Bentley's Playground and will be located at Tolmie Park, also know as North Park, in Keokuk. Bentley McGhghy, shown in the picture to the right, is the child of Matt and Nicole McGhghy. Bentley was born with cerebral palsy. Bentley has rallied this community for the benefit of children just like him.
