Restored 1812 Acadian home and boarding house listed in the National Registry of Historic Places, Bayou Teche Bed and Breakfast is the oldest structure in the City of Breaux Bridge. Beautifully situated along the banks of the Bayou Teche, it is conveniently located in the historic downtown district and is an easy walk to cafes, antiquing, and shopping.
The historically restored front section is a Creole cajun cottage c. 1812 with three sets of French doors opening onto the front gallery. Constructed of 4-inch hand-hewn beams, with mortise and tenon joints. It features baton and bousillage walls with plaster finish and 12-foot tall exposed beam ceilings.
As bayou traffic increased, the back section was added about 1880/1890, and the property became known as "The Bourdier Hotel and Livery Stable." Since 1903 it has been known by locals as "The City Hotel." This restoration project allows you to step back in time. Plan to stay here, take the day trips, explore our area and return in the evening to the serenity of this unique Cajun town.
