The Acadian Memorial is located in St. Martinville, Louisiana, on the shores of Bayou Teche. It is dedicated to the Acadians who were forced to leave their homeland and came to Louisiana in the mid-1700s.
Across the back wall is a large mural painted by Robert Dafford. The Auto interacts with the mural to tell the story of the Acadians. On the other wall is a bronze wall engraved with all the names of the Acadians who came to Louisiana. Many descendants visit here to view their ancestors. In the gardens stands a replica of the Deportation Cross, the Eternal Flame and many Acadian Coat of Arms. The memorial was opened in 1996.
