Acadian Memorial Heritage Festival and Wooden Boat Congress

The Festival celebrates ancient to modern Cajun-Acadian cultural traditions. There is live music, food, crafts, theater in French, children`s activities, a wooden boat parade and exhibit, an antique car exhibit. Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic site joins us with artifacts and information around a trapper`s life on the bayou, Théâtre Cadien teaches round dances, and French speakers and learners are invited to join la table française.

A re-enactment of the arrival of the Acadians begins at 1:00 p.m. with several native American tribes participating. Cooking demonstrations begin at 9 a.m. and a jam session ends the day beginning at 3:30. 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Call 337-394-2233 for more information or email
