Thornhill Open House

Come visit the home of Missouri’s second governor, Frederick Bates, and learn about his role in forming Missouri into what it is today. The house is partially furnished. Also on the site are the 1820s and 1860s barns, smokehouse, ice house, peach orchard and blacksmith shop. The estate includes the family cemetery, burial site of the governor, his wife, Nancy, and two of their four children.


The home will be open from noon until 4 pm on select weekends. The next open dates are visible below.
