Welcome to My Just Desserts – we are famous for our homemade pies, ½ pound chicken salad sandwiches and our Tollhouse brownies. We also serve a variety of soups, salads and sandwiches. Our menu changes daily based upon what the kitchen is craving at that particular moment, so you’ll never have the same thing two days in a row around our place. Stop by and say hello any day of the week between 11am and 4pm. We’re located downtown in historic Alton Illinois just a few blocks from the river. We’ll do our best to have a slice of pie with your name on it waiting for you – but come early!!
Also noteable, our building was featured on Alton's Lincoln & Civil War Legacy Trail.
Early in Lincoln's career as an attorney he visited Alton often to serve clients. The Ryder building was used as a courthouse for trials, and it was the site of the Lovejoy murder trial. In 1840, Lincoln delivered a speech here for Whig candidate William Henry Harrison. In 1844, Lincoln helped Simeon Ryder, the owner of this building, collect an old debt.
