Elsah General Store

A visit to Elsah General Store is like taking a step back in time.  Located in the heart of the historic Village of Elsah, Illinois, a stone's throw from the Mississippi River, our store building dates back to the 1870's.  For many years it served this once bustling little community under the name JK Keller & Son, General Merchant. Today, Elsah General Store captures the feeling of a simpler time, while offering groceries, local dairy, eggs, breads, and meat, vintage bottled soda, old fashion candy, ice cream, unique gifts, books, cards, pottery, collectibles, and 'the goodies table'.

The beauty of this quaint, picturesque little Village of Elsah, along with its historic significance, makes it a destination for visitors from all over the region. Yet Elsah retains its peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, and shoppers at the general store discover the relative quiet of the village.

Visitors to Elsah General Store experience what it might have been like to shop at an old fashion general store in the late 1800's.  The building is beautifully restored, and visitors often find that the original wood floors and countertops, along with it's attractive decor and product display, gives them a feeling of shopping in a time gone by.  Guests are greeted and served by the store's owner, who offers historical information about the village and store building.
